Cordova: Mexican archaeologist died of pneumonia, not swine flu
Mexico Health Minister Jose Angel Cordova said that the Mexican archaeologist who met US President Barack Obama last week in Mexico City died of pneumonia, not swine flu, according to the Associated Press.
Felipe Solis, a distinguished archaeologist, met Obama during his trip to the anthropology museum in Mexico City on April 16. Solis died the following day after showing symptoms similar to flu, according to the Reforma newspaper.
The newspaper didn’t say if Solis had swine flu or not. But the rumors spread until Cordova denied the suspicions and said that Solis was already ill, and died of pneumonia unrelated to influenza.
The White House said that as of April 26, the President is in good health and was not affected by the swine flu that has killed 68 people in Mexico, according to the Associated Press.
