Zambia, Cuba Agree on Cooperation

Zambia and Cuba have agreed to hold a joint permanent commission of cooperation aimed at enhancing relations between the two countries, Zambia Daily Mail reported on Tuesday.

Zambian Foreign Affairs Minister Kabinga Pande said on Monday in Cuba when he held talks with Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcos Rodriguez Costa and Minister of Foreign and Economic Cooperation Rodrigo Malmiera at the ongoing ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Daily Mail said.

Kabinga said the two countries agreed to look into possibilities of enhancing cooperation in the health, education, agriculture, tourism and manufacturing sectors.

He further said the two countries agreed discussed the need for Zambia to consider opening a mission in Cuba, as the matter has been outstanding for a long time.

Meanwhile, the Zambian Minister said the global financial and economic crisis was severe to least developed countries, according to Daily Mail.

Pande told the NAM meeting that concerted efforts were needed to address challenges by least developed countries in view of the global crisis.
